We have finally reached TRIPLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES!!! Don’t get caught with no air-conditioning this summer, follow this checklist to make sure your units are ready to take on the Arizona heat!
- Thermostat Setting: Ensure the thermostat is set to “cool” mode and the temperature is set lower than the current room temperature.
- Air Vents: Inspect all air vents throughout the house to ensure they are open and unobstructed.
- Outdoor Unit: Check the outdoor unit (condenser) to ensure it’s free of debris such as leaves, dirt, or grass clippings. Also, verify that there are no obstructions blocking airflow around the unit.
- Air Filters: Check and replace air filters if they are dirty or clogged. Dirty filters restrict airflow and can cause the system to work harder.
- Visible Damage: Look for any visible damage to the indoor or outdoor units such as dents, rust, or leaks.
- Thermostat Accuracy: Verify that the temperature displayed on the thermostat matches the actual room temperature.
- Strange Noises: Listen for any unusual noises such as banging, grinding, or squealing, which could indicate mechanical issues.
- Strange Odors: Smell for any unusual odors coming from the vents, which could indicate mold, mildew, or burnt electrical components.
- Cycling Frequency: Pay attention to how frequently the AC cycles on and off. Rapid cycling could indicate an issue with the thermostat or compressor.
- Cooling Duration: Monitor how long it takes for the AC to cool the space adequately. If it takes longer than usual, there might be a problem with the system’s efficiency.
